I used size 9 needles and 4 ply knitting worsted weight yarn. You can use smaller needles for a tighter weave and smaller diamonds. Play with it to get the look you want. The pattern is worked over 38 stitches. I cast on 48 because I made a garter stitch border of 5 sts on each side and 4 rows of garter to start and to finish. You can do this or leave the garter off. I don't like my work to curl a lot and the garter helps to stabilize. This pattern has a moss stitch inside a row of diamonds with a purl stitch inside the following row of diamonds. I repeated the pattern twice.
Cast on 48 stitches if you are doing the garter stitch border and 38 if you are leaving it off. I am going to give the pattern over the 38 stitches...if you are doing the garter border, remember to knit the first 5 and the last five stitches throughout. Start and finish with 4 rows of garter.
